Headstock Template Set

Our simple headstock template is everything you need to lay out a basic cigar box guitar headstock. Use this if you are building a neck that is a single width for its whole length.

Made from clear, 5mm thick acrylic, the template is based on the standard 35mm width typically used for cigar box guitars.

Includes guides for marking the positions of the tuners and string spacing (3 string or 4 string in both cases).

This waistcoat headstock template is a twist on our more classic headstock design. It moves the bulk closer to the nut and looks a little more "vintage". Sized for cigar box guitars, our waistcoat headstock template design sits well with a wooden cigar box (such as a Partagas) or with a paper-wrapped cigar box with a traditional design (such as a Romeo y Julieta).

This rondel headstock template is our cigar box guitar version of a "6-in-line" headstock, as seen on the original mass-produced electrics, and still popular to this day. Our futurist headstock template is a very modern, swept-back style of headstock, typically seen on electric guitars built for heavy metal. Sized for cigar box guitars, this futurist design suits more contemporary boxes – something like a glossy Camacho for example – or a solid body build.

This asymmetric headstock template is a bit more modern than most of our other headstock templates. However, it's still arranged with tuners on either side. If you prefer a modern design with tuners all in-line, have a look at our futurist headstock template. The asymmetric headstock ignores all symmetry and isn't afraid to be a bit "pointy". Although you can round the points during sanding if you prefer.
