Our mini control plate template is a convenient tool if you make your own control plates. Specifically sized for cigar box guitars, use this template for marking out plywood, hardwood sheets or whatever material you use to make control plates for your guitars.
The template is in two parts. The outsert is used to mark the outline of the mini control plate. The insert is used to mark or bradawl the centres of the screw holes and the pot holes. It includes marking holes for two potentiometers – typically used for one volume and one tone pot.
Made from clear acrylic, it is easy to see the grain of the material you are cutting, so you can be sure you’re making the best use of what you have. We use 5mm thick acrylic, so you can use it with a template-cutting router bit with bearing.
The resulting control plates produced from this template are 3in (91.4mm) x 1.6in (25.4mm).
